Blog Entry: I'm still here, working off auxillary power and doing as much as I can without electricity.  I am told that for my area, we are looking at least another week before electticity will be restored.  A lot of Houston has gotten their electricity back, but a lot more to go. Despite the fact that most of Houston is still without electricity, I have to say that they are doing a wonderful job at getting it all restored.  This is not a minor feat.  I also want to tip my hat to all the Houston officials especially Bill White the mayor and Harris county officials especially Judge Ed Emmett.  They had a plan that worked and tghey continue to work to get things back to normal.  In fact as you drive throughtout the city, you can see things geting back to normal, but still a long ways to go.  I took a few pictures that I will put up this weekend, when I can try to get somewhere with electrcty to do so.   I had a scary experience last night.  I was standing outside in my yard around 11:30 PM.  Pitch black as you can imagine since there are no lights.  Not a single person outside but me.  I was just enjoying the quiet and serinity of thenight.  All of a sudden a car passes by on the cross street about 4 house down from me and 4 to 5 gun shots rang out.  I could see the fie from the guns.  It is amazing how things happen in slow motion.  By the time that I thought to duck down behind my car, they were long gone.  Too late to duck then LOL. I looked down the street in the opposite direction and say two people walking toward me with flashlights.  They probqably were neighbors who heard the shots and came out.  I was not waiting around to see.  I got in the house faster than a jackrabbit heading for its hole. Curfew in houston is midnight, but I guess these yahoos were wanting to get some excitement in before the curfew.  Did notg seem like they were shooting at anything, but just shooting to create terror.  Our neighborhood is normally quiet and crime free, but I guess the thoughtofnolights, no security cameras, alarms, etc, brings out the worse in some. Gas lines are almost back to normal.  Still Ice is scarce though.  Most schools stayed closed this week and will reopen on Monday.  Our church sustained a little damage but not anything  major.  One orf the things that I thought was interesting was we did have water doing into our church in the sanctuary area.  Despite the amountg of water that came in, the candle that stays lit to signify the prsence of Jesus did not go out.  Just a little "bright light" in the mess of the raqin.   Well that's it for now.  More later.
