Hurricane Ike
Posted On 09/12/2008 18:34:37 by DeaconDan

I thought I might as well blog about Hurricane Ike as it approaches Houston.   I will do so every couple of hours or so as long as I have electricity.  I do expect to loose electricity, so not sure how long I will be able to do so.  There are already over 10,000 homes without electricity in Houston.

Right now it is  6:30 PM (CST) in Houston and we have no rain, but the wind is really picking up.  I just stepped outside and kids are playing football in the street, but it is quite windy.  Starting to get darker than what it would normally be at this time, but of course this is because of the storm.

We don't expect to get the full blow of the storm until the early hours of the morning.  Wish it was more in the day time.  I rode out Hurricane Alecia back in the early 80's, but it came through in daylight.

I have all my supplies and have put everything from outside inside, so that they would not become missles.  One of my neighbors did not put their stuff away, and I am not sure if he is even still there for I have not seen anyone there, but I hope none of his many things on his porch and yard attacks my house.

I am not in  a flood area, so not too much worried about the flooding, but the wind may be an issue.  We shall see.  More to come.
