Greedy customers kills Walmart employee
Posted On 12/01/2008 07:01:19

This has got to be the most unnecessary death that I have heard of in a long time.  I am sure that you have heard the story already.  Like a lot of stores in America, a New York suburban Walmart store held its annual Black Friday bargain sale.  Customers waited all night Thursday night to get some "great" bargains such as a $798 Samsung 50-inch Plasma HDTV or a Bissel Compact Upright Vaccum for $28, or a Samsung 10.2 megapixel digital camera for $69 and DVDs such as "The Incredible Hulk" for $9.  Before the store could actually open, they busted through the doors, knocking down store employee Jdimytai Damour.  They rushed into the store walking over and on the downed employee, stampeded over him, crushing his throat and he died as a result.  Three other people were injured in the ordeal including an eight month pregnant mother.

Of course people are already talking about suing the store.   Sue, sue, sue, that's all we know.  People are not cattle and Walmart is not the feeding trough.  Greed killed this man, not Walmart.   Maybe Walmart should have had more security... maybe.  But what about the people themselves.   What about some personal responsibility of those who broke the door and rushed in to cause this death.  What is going on with human nature?  Some people when they were told that they would have to leave the Walmart because someone had been killed refused to do so saying, "I've been in line all night, I'm going to finish my shopping".

We've come a long ways from when everybody would get together and have a barn raising because someone needed help.

Now we just step on them and "raise hell" instead of barns, to the point they die.  People really need to slow down and get back to living as a soiety of those who love others as they love themselves.  Scripture says "The root of evil is the love of money" and it sure proves true in this case.  Shame on these greedy, lovers of bargains.

Modern Day Pirates
Posted On 10/05/2008 10:11:08

I do not know why this has not gotten my attention before now, but I am amazed at the amount of piracy on the seas in this modern day.  When we talk about pirates typically what comes to mind is a pirate with a patch over one eye with a peg leg, waving his sword.  We see them holinding a bottle of rum and saying yo-ho-hum.  Not the case for these 21st century pirates.

The coast off of Somalia has become a pirates kingdom where boats filled with Somailan equipped with grenade launchers and machine guns commandeer ships, their cargo and crew and demand ransom for it.

Several governments including the USA have sent ships to help protect and although many attacks by the Somalian pirates have been stopped, there are still lots that happen.  Right now, Somali pirates hold more than a dozen hijacked ships. Nearly 400 men and women from the vessels are being held at gunpoint in some Somali fishing village or aboard a ship that is running low on food and water while negotiations are underway with ship owners that will determine if they live or die.

The one making the most news right now is a ship from Iran that is being helped along with its cargo and crew.   Somali pirates hijacked the cargo ship with a crew of 20, which was transporting 33 battle tanks and assorted heavy weaponry. This dangerous cargo has drawn rare international attention to the growing crisis of piracy at sea because of fear of the weapons falling into the wrong hands.  There have also been reports that several of the pirates have died because they got into some of the cargo that may be chemical type weaponry.

Two years ago, there were a reported 100 pirates working the coast; today, according to Andrew Mwangura, who heads the Seafarer's Assistance Program in Mombasa, Kenya, there are an estimated 1,200. And the list of volunteers to join them is long.

How in the world has this gone on for so long?  With all the modern tools that the International community has, why have they not been able to stop this piracy on the seas?   Sometimes it seems that we are going backwards when it comes to moralitiy and actions.  I realize that these fishernan turned pirates and the villages that support them are like a Robin hood of the seas since they take theransom money and spread a lot of it among the fishing villages of Somaila, but is this what we have turned into.....Villages becoming a crime haven.  Sounds like something our of a novel.

I really feel sorry for Bill Maher
Posted On 10/04/2008 19:56:44

I really do feel sorry for the "comedian" Bill Maher.  Every time I hear him and see him on TV, he invokes so many different emotions from me ranging from anger to sympathy.  Maher is truly a lost confused person who in my opinion if he does not change his ways is destined to an eternity of pain.  He has got to be the biggest anti-God, anti-patriotic person that I know.

His latest venture is a movie titled Religulous which I guess is a play off of the word ridiculous which is exactly what this film is.  Directed by the director of Borat and done in the same style, Maher goes across the world defaming the world's religions, including Christianity (particularly Catholicism), Judaism and Muslim.  He finds the most far extreme and ridicules God and religion.

It is called a documentary, but it is far from it.  He uses the film to pretend to be seeking an understanding of religions, but it is more than evident that the  motive is put his anti-God, atheist views into the public.  I would not see this film and as a matter of fact will not even patronize any theater that carries it.   I have seen the trailer for it and I have watched an interview of him about he film as he sat there with that smug look on his face defaming God.

Of course there will be many Christians who will go to see it for they will see it as simply humor, but it is more that humor.  It is his attemt to put down religion and people who beleive in God as well as to put down God.

There will be Christians who will pay their money that God has Blessed them with to see this trash because as I have said before Christians are Wimps!  When we were kids and someone talked about our moms or dads, we were ready to fight over it.  Now you have Maher that constantly talks about out Heavely Father and we take it lying down.

'Tis a shame that more of us do not stand up for the one who stood up for us.  As I stated earlier in my own little way, I will not patronize any theater that shows this atrocity, nor will I support any films that are produced by the same prodution company that produced Religulous.  Some of there are:

Distribution Companies Credit
Lionsgate Domestic Theatrical Distributor
Lionsgate Domestic Distribution Rights
Ascot Elite Entertainment Group Foreign Distribution Rights
Sandrew Metronome Distribution Sverige AB (Sweden) Foreign Theatrical Distributor
A-Film Distribution Foreign Theatrical Distributor
TVA Films Foreign Distribution Rights
Blue Sky Media Foreign Distribution Rights

What will you do to stand up for the Lord?

Despite the fact that still over 1 million customers in Houston still have no electricity, I am not one of them.  That is right, I now have electricity.  YEA!!!

What a ride it was to go a whole week+ with no electricity in an all electric house.  No gas so all my appliance (Hot water heater, stove) are on electricity.

I have a lot of catching up and a lot of cleaning up to do.  Thanks for all the prayers and notes.  I really appreciated.  I have not had time to respond to all the emails I have receive, but I will do my best to do so in as timely fashion as I can, now that I have electricity.

My church still has no lights.  We had mass in the dark, but it went very well.  Afterall that is how it all started back then.  No lights, no microphones, no electric organs, just good old fashion worship.

I'm still here, working off auxillary power and doing as much as I can without electricity.  I am told that for my area, we are looking at least another week before electticity will be restored.  A lot of Houston has gotten their electricity back, but a lot more to go.

Despite the fact that most of Houston is still without electricity, I have to say that they are doing a wonderful job at getting it all restored.  This is not a minor feat.  I also want to tip my hat to all the Houston officials especially Bill White the mayor and Harris county officials especially Judge Ed Emmett.  They had a plan that worked and tghey continue to work to get things back to normal.  In fact as you drive throughtout the city, you can see things geting back to normal, but still a long ways to go.  I took a few pictures that I will put up this weekend, when I can try to get somewhere with electrcty to do so.

I had a scary experience last night.  I was standing outside in my yard around 11:30 PM.  Pitch black as you can imagine since there are no lights.  Not a single person outside but me.  I was just enjoying the quiet and serinity of thenight.  All of a sudden a car passes by on the cross street about 4 house down from me and 4 to 5 gun shots rang out.  I could see the fie from the guns.  It is amazing how things happen in slow motion.  By the time that I thought to duck down behind my car, they were long gone.  Too late to duck then LOL.

I looked down the street in the opposite direction and say two people walking toward me with flashlights.  They probqably were neighbors who heard the shots and came out.  I was not waiting around to see.  I got in the house faster than a jackrabbit heading for its hole.

Curfew in houston is midnight, but I guess these yahoos were wanting to get some excitement in before the curfew.  Did notg seem like they were shooting at anything, but just shooting to create terror.  Our neighborhood is normally quiet and crime free, but I guess the thoughtofnolights, no security cameras, alarms, etc, brings out the worse in some.

Gas lines are almost back to normal.  Still Ice is scarce though.  Most schools stayed closed this week and will reopen on Monday.  Our church sustained a little damage but not anything  major.  One orf the things that I thought was interesting was we did have water doing into our church in the sanctuary area.  Despite the amountg of water that came in, the candle that stays lit to signify the prsence of Jesus did not go out.  Just a little "bright light" in the mess of the raqin.

Well that's it for now.  More later.

hurricane Update #7
Posted On 09/16/2008 22:35:09

First let me say Thanks to all who sent me Birthday wishes to me.  It is very appreaciated.  Went to work today to check on the kids that were locked up during the hurricane to see how they are doing.  Very long today.  Cold showers are getting old. LOL.  I tell you this has been an adventure, yet I am greatful that it is not worse than than it could have been.

I  have so much to tell you once I get back online regularly and a few pictures to show you.  Lots going on good here in Houston.  God will always take tradgedy and use it to better us all, and I am seeing results of that.  Things are getting back to normal here, but still has a ways to go.  Lack of ice for people, lack of electricty and long gas lines are trying a lot of people's patience.  I heard a cop had to shoot a guy in a gasoline line yesterday.  Please continue to pray that people hold on to their courtesy and Godly ways.  More later.

hurricane update number 3
Posted On 09/13/2008 06:27:17

Still in the middle of it.  It is 6:25 AM and it is so dark outside.  You can't see too far in the distance.  I took about 2 hours nap, but up at it again.  There are reported 2 million customers without electricity.  My laptop batery is about out, so will figure out a different solution to blog during this time if I can.  There is very little that I can see as far as damage, but in parts of Houston, lots of damage.

The eye passed over it already, so we just need to ride it out for a few hours more.  There is flooding here in homes, but not citywide.  This storm had very litttle rain comparibly so, so the flooding is comeing from the storm surge.

There was a storm related fire in gowntown Houston to a okd and good resteraunt called Brennins.

OK, that's it for now.  Type to you soon.
