1Cor 1:18-25

18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written:

" I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,
And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent."^[a]

20 Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. 22 For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; 23^[b] foolishness, 24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks

What is the only thing that really matters in life? I would suggest that knowing God would be at the top of the list!!!
Within this text we are told how to know God.!! Getting to know the creator of the universe is not something that we can do with our own intellect or wisdom.

It is fascinating to witness the extremes that people will go to, to try and understand who God is. Yet the word tells us that: it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. 1 Cor 1:21b
The answer to who God is! Is through the message of the Cross!!!!!! Look at this verse:

1 Cor 1:21

21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.
There is only one true God and only one way to know Him!!
My son when he was about 5 years old had a friend that would visit our house named pinch. One day as they were playing in his room I asked them if they would like some pudding as a snack. They said sure! So they sat at the table and I brought them both chocolate pudding. When Pinch saw the chocolate pudding he said, Ewwww I really don't like chocolate pudding! Do you have anything else? I said, sure how is vanilla? He said, that is great, so everyone was happy and they ate their pudding. After they were done Pinch's mom knocked on the door and took pinch home and my son went back into his room and started playing. Well about a half an hour later I heard him talking to someone in his room. So I went in and asked who are you talking to? He said, Oh I'm talking to Pinch!!! I said, but Pinch left about a half an hour ago!!! He shrugged his shoulders and said, I know but I'm still talking to him. So I asked well, what are you guys doing? He said we are eating chocolate pudding!!!!!
I said, but Pinch doesn't like chocolate pudding!!!! He said something I will never forget!!!! He said, well MY Pinch does like chocolate pudding!!!
See what he actually did was, make up a Pinch to his own liking!! The real Pinch did not like chocolate pudding But his imaginary Pinch did.
Isn't that what is happening today? Men in their own wisdom, trying to attain a knowledge of who God is, through the figments of their own Imagination! All the while ignoring the God who truly does exist!
There is only one true Pinch and he does not like Chocolate pudding and there is only one true God, which can only be known through the Cross of Christ.
And He may or may not like Chocolate pudding!!!! Through the cross of Christ we can find out what the ONE and ONLY true God thinks of all life's tough Questions.
But we have to go to the God that truly exists not the god who is the figment of our imagination.
