Matthew 28:9,10
Posted On: 11/17/2008 13:32:18
9: And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.
10: Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.

Jesus appears to the women.  He tells the women to go and let his disciples to meet him.  They had abandoned him while he was dying on the cross but he is giving them a chance to repent by meeting him in Galilee.  The disciples had abandoned him there was no doubt in that but Jesus is showing his forgiveness if they are willing to return to him.  They all did and these disciples would spread the Gospel throughout the world and all would suffer for his name but they never left him again.  God is a God of forgiveness but we all must come to him in repentance for our sinful lives.  It is arrogance that some preach that God has to forgive us rather we come to him or not.  It is not only arrogance but ignorance with no Biblical truth.  The message throughout the Bible is that we are sinful creatures but we have a God that loves us and is willing to forgive us if we repent and turn to him.  But man don’t want to repent they want salvation on their terms without repentance or obedience to the word of God.

I agree 100%. There is not alot of preaching on repentance today. People are offended when we are told we're going the wrong way, and we need to change course. Whether we like it or not, God commands us to repent (Acts 17:30). It's not optional.
